The judges regarded Heilala Vanilla Alcohol Free Paste as a truly unique New Zealand product that impressed in all aspects of judging – a high-quality and technically innovative solution from a business with a strong moral compass to match. The award-winning vanilla paste provides an alcohol free solution without compromising on taste.

MIXED ROOTS
"Hot Stuff” Curry Oil

The judges said “Hot Stuff” Curry Oil packs a lot of flavour into a jar using time honoured traditions of “tadka” smoking that have been modernised for scale and to ensure a consistent quality across batches.

The judges were impressed with importance of community: using local wahine to help manufacture the product, sharing processing facilities, and use re-usable packaging and ethically sourced ingredients. 

Below Zero Award

EATKINDA
EatKinda Strawberry Swirl

The judges said this innovative dessert puts sustainability at the heart of production. Using cauliflower waste that would have otherwise been destined for landfill, EatKinda have made a delicious frozen dessert with a creamy texture. The packaging is also completely compostable, moving the product towards being fully circular.

Mānuka Honey Elixir - Lemon & Mixed Berry Flavoured

Our judges said they were initally impressed by Avatar’s macro approach to the Mānuka Honey sector. Especially their long-term approach to both environmental sustainability and developing products that best serve the interests of New Zealand honey producers and consumers alike. 

Business Innovation Award

The judges praised Heilala Vanilla for being an innovative and proactive business leading the way for consumers. Innovation is reflected in every aspect of product, channel, brand and operations. Heilala Vanilla are a model company with a premium product, doing all they can to extend its positioning in a global market.

KĀPITI
Succulent Summer Plum Yoghurt

Using leading edge new product development techniques and process technology, commended by the judges, they stated Kāpiti have crafted pure indulgence. Their luscious creamy yoghurt showcases a plum flavour that is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. 

 

Health and Wellbeing Award

PURE FOOD CO
Tiramisu

The judges applauded the Pure Food Co for creating a well-researched product that adds diversity while remaining steadfast to the all-important focus of enhancing protein and energy needs for their customer group. Designed to meet the specific needs of individuals with swallowing disorders, this is a delicious, easy to eat dessert that is higher in protein and lower in sugar than traditional alternatives.

Lifetime Achievement Award

WATTIE’S
Tomato Sauce

The judging panel couldn’t resist recognising New Zealand’s iconic condiment. Deeply embedded in Kiwi culture for over 80 years, Wattie’s Tomato Sauce has been a firm favourite for Kiwi consumers and at the centre of fond memories.

Novel Award

EatKinda Mint Choc Bikkie

EatKinda’s Mint Choc Bikkie plant-based frozen dessert was a hit with the judges, who were impressed with the novel use of rescued cauliflower to deliver an innovative alternative. The judges said it really delivered on its indulgent mint flavour and chunky biscuity texture – without a hint of cauliflower!

HEILALA VANILLA
Alcohol Free Vanilla Paste

The judges commended Heilala Vanilla’s highly innovative product as creating an alcohol free vanilla paste is a true technical challenge. The brand created their latest ‘tasty’ product by using a glycerine-extracted vanilla and creating a formula that achieved a spoonable paste. It provides both industry and consumers with an alcohol free alternative that doesn’t compromise on the delicate and delicious flavour of vanilla.

Fine Lamb

The judges were delighted by the tender, succulent lamb, as well as Royalburn Station’s commitment to an integrated and sustainable approach.

Royalburn Fine Lamb is a high quality, dry-aged, 100% pasture-fed NZ lamb specifically bred for its meat-eating qualities. The lambs are born, raised and processed on the Station using their own micro abattoir – it’s a true representation of the ‘paddock to plate’ operation.
